Day 21, or A Walk in the Dark
It’s no secret or surprise to hear that people are leaving religion in droves. We all see it every day, on the news, in our churches, and in our own homes. Many of us have friends and family who don’t share our beliefs, or have left our churches. It’s easy to start to feel abandoned, like our circle of support is breaking down, like we’re a lone lamppost in a darkening night.
But we need not fear that we will be swallowed by the dark. Darkness doesn’t put out the light, it just makes it easier to see a flame, no matter how distant. That’s how we find each other. We shine out and build each other up. The number of lamps burning doesn’t matter, as long as we ourselves don’t fade, as long as we keep feeding the fire and waiting for night to inevitably turn into the morning.
John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
My prayer for today:
Father, do not let us grow weak and dismayed when people don’t see Your truth, but instead make us endeavor even more joyfully to live out Your will.
